About Me

Helping Children Feel Confident, Calm and Capable

When your child is struggling with anxiety, confidence, school stress or big emotions, it can be exhausting and worrying. You might feel like you are constantly trying to say the right thing, do the right thing, and hold everything together, while your child still seems overwhelmed.

My work is about helping children and young people feel more in control of their emotions, stronger in their mindset, and more confident in themselves.

A Practical, Child-Friendly Approach That Creates Real Change

I support children and young people who may be:

  • Anxious or overwhelmed
  • Struggling with confidence or self-esteem
  • Finding friendships difficult
  • Feeling angry, reactive or emotionally stuck
  • Avoiding school or feeling under pressure
  • Overthinking, perfectionistic or fearful of getting things wrong

Children do not need to be “good at talking” to benefit. Sessions are structured, engaging and designed to help them build real coping skills in a way that feels safe and positive.

A trained NLP4Kids practitioner, using structured NLP and child-friendly psychological skills in line with People Building’s nationally recognised professional standards.

My Background

I have always been passionate about working with children.

I have spent many years as a Children’s Nurse, supporting children and their families through some of the hardest moments of their lives. I am also a University Lecturer in Children’s Nursing, teaching and supporting future healthcare professionals.

Over time, I have seen a noticeable rise in children experiencing emotional wellbeing challenges, often alongside increasing school pressures, social expectations and modern life stress.

This is one of the biggest reasons I feel so strongly about giving children tools early, before worries become their normal.

Why I Trust NLP (Because I’ve Lived It)

Anxiety and low self-confidence were once things I believed I would always have to manage.

In 2013, while on maternity leave, I trained as an NLP Practitioner after experiencing first-hand how powerful NLP can be. At the time, I had a strong fear of speaking in front of groups, despite wanting to move into teaching and education.

Using NLP techniques, I learned to manage my anxiety and build confidence.

I later accepted a temporary role as a university lecturer to test myself. Today, I confidently teach hundreds of students at a time, and genuinely enjoy it.

That experience shaped the way I now work with children. I know what it feels like to be stuck, and I know how life-changing it can be when you finally have the right tools.

Supporting Children Feels Personal to Me

I am also a parent to twins, and like many families, we have faced our own emotional wellbeing challenges.

This work is not just professional for me. It is personal.

It has made me deeply aware of how common struggles like anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem and school refusal can be, and how quickly children can become overwhelmed if they do not have the right support.

How I Help Children and Young People

Using NLP4Kids, I help children build skills that support them in real life, including:

  • Confidence and self-belief
    emotional regulation and calm responses
  • Coping strategies for anxiety and worry
  • Resilience through change, pressure and challenges
  • Improved communication and social confidence
  • Healthier thinking patterns and self-talk

Sessions are solution-focused and child-friendly, and many parents tell me their child feels lighter and more hopeful after even the first session.

Support for Parents Too (NLP4Parents)

When a child is struggling, parents often feel helpless, exhausted, and unsure what to do next.

As an NLP4Parents Practitioner, I also support parents with practical tools to reduce stress at home, strengthen communication, and respond confidently when emotions run high.

Sometimes the biggest change happens when parents feel calmer and clearer too.
